FanFiction E-mail Scams
I write fanfiction*
Yep, I said it. There goes my reputation down the drain. I write fanfiction, the most ultimate cringiest crime a person can commit.
Oh, what am I kidding. Fanfiction isn't a crime. Who honestly, cares? As long as you're not writing some horrid, insult-to-God story that breaks every social taboo, what's the harm in it?
Fanfiction is freakin' awesome. Say what you want about it, I've seen some fanfictions that rival real literary authors in terms of quality and engagement. Not to mention it's the only place where you can see the most unusual crossovers. Sometimes I'll see a crossover I've never thought about and think to myself "Huh, I didn't know I needed that in my life."
But the thing is, ever since I first opened my FanFiction.net account and posted something there, I've been getting tons of emails from random scam bots offering their "services". These "services" are artistic in nature, such as offering to make illustrations based off of your story. These bots try to masquerade as humans by telling you how much they "loved" your story. I know they're bots because they never tell you anything specific about your story that they enjoyed, instead giving you vague points of praise such as "I like the characters" and "I like the way you write". They never give any specific details from the story, just that they "liked" it.
But why exactly are they scam bots? Because the "art" they offer you is just some AI-generated slop. Simple as. A complete waste of money.
Instead of deleting these e-mails, however, I've mostly just been sitting on them. They've been clogging up my inbox for the better part of a year now, and I've been trying to figure out what to do with them (it's good web site content after all). Since I've finally gotten tired of seeing them in my inbox, I've decided to just dump a few of them here. Take them as examples of what these scammers will usually send you in an attempt to steal your money.

*Note: By "write fanfiction", I mean I posted one chapter of something one time that I promptly lost interest in.
